The certification of low voltage equipment is carried out in accordance with the Technical Regulation of the Customs Union TR CU 004/2011 'On the safety of low voltage equipment', which defines the basic provisions for the use of electrical equipment operating in current alternating voltages from fifty to one thousand volts and from seventy five to fifteen hundred volts in direct current ... These are mainly devices that can be used in everyday life and in industry.

The document was drawn up with the aim of protecting the life and health of people, as well as their assets and the environment. The regulation protects final consumers from products manufactured with an insufficient level of quality. Developed in 2011, CU TR 004 contains a set of mandatory points for manufacturers and / or importers when they sell and transport electrical equipment on the territory of the Customs Union.

The main provisions are as follows:

- electrical appliances must have clear and legible signs, which must be placed in an easily visible place

- the products must be accompanied by regulatory documents that describe the type and model of the product and contain all the characteristics and information about the manufacturer

- the products must also be accompanied by a printed instruction manual written in Russian or in the language of the importing country. The manual must include the product name, basic parameters, information on the purpose and manufacturer of the product, rules on operation, assembly, storage, movement, sale and disposal.

In addition, the instructions should contain data on the consumer's actions when a malfunction is detected.

For free sale, low voltage equipment must undergo a mandatory conformity assessment procedure. TR CU 004/2011 contains a list of goods subject to mandatory certification. Products not included in this list are subject to declaration. This procedure has a certain algorithm of sequential actions, it is quite laborious and takes some time. In addition, it involves some nuances in the process of obtaining a product conformity certificate. In this case, some schemes are used, there are four of them, which can be classified into different categories.

After passing all the procedures, the applicant receives a certificate or declaration. The document is valid for up to five years for mass production, for one batch - indefinitely. The documentation must be kept for at least ten years from the date of termination of the issue.
